Calendar Art: Twelve Months, Twelve Opportunities to Tell a Story
Calendar design is an interesting space in visual communication. Unlike most advertising formats that compete for attention for a few seconds, a calendar remains with its audience for an entire year. That makes every month an opportunity to build a visual narrative, communicate an idea, or create an emotional connection. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to explore calendar art through very different subjects and illustration styles. I designed calendars for Q-Chem while working with an advertising agency in Qatar, including the Thank You Plastic campaign. I later developed a 12-illustration calendar for a dairy brand from Andhra Pradesh, featuring its girl character Shreeja and connecting her with Indian celebrations through the months. Another calendar project for MyFin Global Finance Media allowed me to turn personal-finance principles and disciplines into a series of illustrations. Three calendars, three subjects, three very different creative approaches.
